The Laneway

It's a weekday afternoon. You're 15, walking home from school through a laneway behind a row of shops with three people you know. One of them stops at a wooden fence panel and starts kicking it. You have not touched it, and nobody has asked you to.

What you’ll practise

  • The difference between being there and being part of it
  • What you say about other people, and what it carries
  • When you have to give your name and address

Before you start

This scenario involves someone else damaging property while you are there, police stopping the group afterwards, and questions about what you saw and what you did. Nobody is arrested. No violence is depicted and no injuries are described. Nothing in this scenario establishes that you did anything.
