What this is
Most people know they have rights. Far fewer have ever used one out loud, with an officer standing in front of them. ArrestIQ is somewhere to practise that part — the deciding — where nothing that happens is real.
It is not a game about avoiding arrest, and it is not a quiz. It is one situation, followed all the way through, with the Victorian law behind every decision explained in plain language afterwards.
A moment from inside
“Mind if I have a look in your bag?”
The officer
There is a real legal difference between those three, and it is not the one most people expect. That is the kind of thing this is for.
How it works
- 01You get stoppedA situation plays out one moment at a time. You read what is happening and what is said to you.
- 02You decideThree or four things you could actually say or do. No timer, no score, and no way to get it wrong.
- 03You find out what it meantAfterwards, every decision is unpacked: what you were allowed to do, what you had to do, and what changed.
Before you start
- This is not legal advice, and no one here is your lawyer.
- This is not a crisis service. If someone is in danger, call 000.
- This describes Victorian law only, and it may be out of date.
If something is actually happening to you right now, this app is the wrong tool. These people can help with your real situation, and they are free.
